I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (San Jose, CA) in May 2014
Interview
First I had to pass a phone interview. I think they mostly just want to make sure you're really interested in the job.
The second step was an online reading comprehension and spatial intelligence test. I didn't finish all the questions in time but I got all of them right which is more important and I passed.
Next I went to an interview. I was asked a lot of questions about negotiating services, being able to work under pressure, time management and general dealing with angry people- you know 'cause you're dealing with people who have been in car accidents.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Vague questions are the worst for me, such as, "Describe a time when you went above and beyond." Which was one question.
One was a time management question. " You have 15 minutes to get to an appointment at 2, you also have to return an email by 2. In addition to this you have 3 phone calls to return by the end of the day and some emails to return by the end of the day. Which tasks do you do first?"
Another question was, " You give a claimant and estimate stating that their car will take 9 hours and x amount of dollars to repair, the mechanic you are using accuses you of trying to cheat the customer, what do you do?"
