      Outside Sales Representative Interview

      7 Nov 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Houston, TX
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Future Paytech (Houston, TX) in Nov 2016

      Interview

Very nice very smooth and I was closed thoroughly on becoming a rep so much that by the end of my interview I had already signed up for the direct deposit and agreed to the refundable $300.00 for the Tablet they would be sending me. By the end of the interview I felt uneasy about being pushed so quickly to join. So I finished up and decided to surf the internet to see what you and other sources said about the company. After looking at the overall comments I decided it was not a good fit for me.

      Outside Sales Representative Interview

      3 Feb 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience

      Application

      I interviewed at Future Paytech

      Interview

I submitted myself for the position through zip recruiter, and received an email response the next day, along with a phone call to schedule a phone interview. The interview was extremely brief. I believe I was asked how I found out about the company, and my experience was certainly never discussed. I was asked how soon I could start. I said I plan to move to the sales territory by the end of month at the latest, and I was told that was not quite soon enough. I said I could be there sooner if need be. I was told that we should get things rolling and deal with logistics later. I was sent a login to view a series of videos online about this company, the position, and bit of informal training for the position. I was confused why I was watching training videos if I didn't work for the company yet, but I found it informative. Per the video, FPT definitely utilizes you as a field agent, door-to-door salesman. Using a tablet with a video presentation, you're instructed to meet with business owners and sell them FPT's payment processing solutions on the spot, same day. Not closing the sale on the spot is presented as either unlikely or unacceptable. You would be required to call sales support staff or manager in front of the business owner should you have difficulty closing the sale... FPT certainly seems to provide meaningful products and services to businesses, but they have an aggressive sales strategy through which they plan to channel their reps. After completing the videos, I had a follow up phone interview with the same recruiter, who wanted me to accept the job offer on the spot. I was taken aback that I was receiving an offer without meeting in person or ever being asked about my experience or qualifications. When I expressed this surprise, I was told that the job doesn't require sales experience, it requires determination and perseverance, someone willing to work hard. I was this position has been filled by sales vets AND former McDonalds fry cooks....
