I was contacted by a third party recruiter and then this went straight to an in-person interview for the first round. I was surprised because I had recommended a phone interview and asked for a job description of exactly what they were looking for from the recruiter. I never received an official description of the job and while I did a copious amount of research on the company, its founders, and its staff - it's hard to interview for a job you never actually were given an official description for. All I knew was that it would entail managing 2 salespeople, hit some form of sales target and that there is no current structure to the sales team. Oh - and then there was also some passing mention of them just implementing Salesforce but no real detail as to how they plan on using it. The ridiculous thing about this was that they could have easily figured out if this was a mutually good fit over the phone. There was never any real need to go straight to an in-person interview and waste a morning to meet in an office space that, while very cool - didn't really give me a good idea of what I'd be doing there.
