I had a similar experience to others in the recruiter screen. The recruiter presented as very disinterested and unengaged, which was surprising especially as the role I interviewed for would be on this person's team. I was also surprised at some of the recruiter's choice of words for certain questions, which were leading rather than unbiased questions. There were also several yes/no questions and dead air after I finished speaking, which made me wonder if the recruiter was even paying attention. A more experienced recruiter would be able to get the same information to their questions without inserting an uncomfortable tone to the conversation and still maintain a level of engagement respectful to the interviewer. I understand there were other candidates preferred for the role, but each candidate still deserves a positive experience or at least the attempt at one. As the first point of contact a candidate has with the company, the first impression made was a turn off and not a great introduction to what more there was to come.
