Interview Process for a Dancer Position
Step 1: Application & Resume Submission
The dancer submits a resume, headshot, dance reel, and portfolio (if applicable).
Resume should include training, experience, and specialties (e.g., ballet, hip-hop, contemporary).
Step 2: Pre-Screening Interview (Phone or Video Call)
Conducted by the casting director or choreographer.
Topics covered: background, dance training, availability, willingness to travel or tour, and understanding of the production.
Step 3: Live or Video Audition
Dancers perform one or more choreographed pieces (can be in-person or via submission).
May include improvisation or freestyle depending on the role.
Focus is on technique, expression, musicality, and adaptability.
Step 4: Callbacks
Shortlisted candidates are invited for a second round.
Includes learning new choreography, performing in groups or duets, and demonstrating versatility.
May also involve interviews with the creative team.
Step 5: Interview with Choreographer/Director
Discuss expectations, contract terms, rehearsal schedule, and long-term goals.
Assess cultural fit, team dynamics, and professionalism.
Step 6: Physical Evaluation (Optional)
Depending on the company, a fitness or health check may be required.
Ensures the dancer can handle physical demands.
Step 7: Offer & Contract Signing
Successful dancer receives a formal offer.
Includes details about compensation, rehearsal periods, performance dates, and terms of engagement.
Step 8: Onboarding & Orientation
Introduction to the team, rehearsal space, and performance guidelines.
Review of company policies and safety protocols.
