I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Formative in Nov 2021
Interview
Standard HR call, CEO conversation, followed by a "paired programming" interview. Overall the process was not bad, but the experience with the last portion of that process wasn't great.
The paired programming portion consisted of 2 other devs (one a contractor) and a screen share. You clone down a repo onto your machine which mirrors their tech stack, build and run the code, then have a fairly simple task to do.
Long story short, spent 2.5 hours on a scheduled 1 hour interview mostly trying to install dependencies, finding a workaround, then was basically told what to type and where by the contractor conducting the interview.
Highly disappointed with the way the technical portion of the interview was handled. However, I'd prefer more companies do technical interviews similarly in terms of a project/task structure.

Interview
I had two video interviews and did not receive a call after the second interview nor an update that they hired another candidate. When I asked if they had an onboarding process for new employees, they did not. I was disappointed that they didn't follow up to say they were moving on with other candidates.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Formative (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2021
Interview
Pretty standard process starting with HR screener, followed by hiring manager and then co-founder, and other team members. One of the last rounds is meeting with a representative from the investor. The employees are kind and passionate about what they are doing.
They ask you to complete a short assignment prior to meeting the hiring manager.
The process is out of sync as they should have the investor do the screening as he has a large impact on the decision (FYI, he's unprofessional). The assignment should come after you have some exposure to the team / product.

Question 1
How would you make an impact in your first 60 days? Why do you want to work here? How would you structure a marketing function?
