The interview process had two levels: first, a conversation with HR to assess general alignment and communication, and second, a deeper technical discussion with the team lead. I genuinely enjoyed the second stage — the team was sharp, curious, and seemed open to exploring new technologies, which I found refreshing and exciting.
However, I ultimately chose not to move forward. While the technical fit was strong, I was overqualified for the role as defined. There was little flexibility in the offer to match my level — either through compensation or alternative benefits. Additionally, I value being able to see the team dynamics and workspace before committing, but their process expected a firm yes before providing that kind of access. That mismatch in expectations was a deciding factor for me.
