      Interview

there were three stages: a regular interview with questions such as telling the interviewer about yourself and some STAR style questions, a case study interview surrounding dealing with an unhappy client/losing client’s supplies, and an interview which surrounded questions on drive and resilience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Simple star style questions: ‘give me a time you were able to automate a… and solved an issue in your former/current workplace’ Following stages were case studies and an interview discussing drive and resilience
      Answer question
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Flexport in Jan 2017

      Interview

Here is my experience of the whole interview process: First, a general phone screen with an HR recruiter. She was very friendly and seemed very interested in what I had to say. We clicked very well and at the very end of conversation she immediately asked to take me to the next step - a Skype interview with three team members. Now this is where my experience really went sour. A day before my scheduled Skype interview, I emailed to confirm and the HR recruiter confirmed. Three hours later she emailed me to reschedule. No big deal, I understand that things come up and it is very hard to coordinate everyones schedule. I was very flexible and willing to reschedule for this opportunity regardless of my very busy work schedule. On the day of the rescheduled interview, I was very prepared and ready to kill it. Unfortunately, I waited 30 minutes passed my interview time with no response. I emailed my HR recruiter to see what was going on and got an automated response saying that she was out of the office for 2 weeks (so I guess she did not pass along my information to anyone else to inform them of my interview just in case something unforeseen as this were to happen). I had to call the office to see what was going on. The lady seemed very uncertain of what was going on but after a 45 minute delay one of the three team members Skype called me. He stated that one of the members was sick (so for some reason that affects everyones ability to remember a Skype interview). The first logistics manager was very nice and seemed very passionate about Flexport. He made me want to work there. We clicked and I was certain I did fairly well in the interview. I asked great questions and was very interested in the career and potential career advancement that Flexport could provide. However, the second logistics manager was flat out rude. He called me on my cell phone stating that his Skype was not working. He also seemed rushed and genuinely uninterested in anything I had to say. I explicitly remember him saying, "I have another meeting in 15 minutes so we need to make this quick". He made it sound like it was my fault that we were 45 minutes delayed! His questions also made no sense. Not for being too difficult, but it seemed like he was not even focusing. I constantly had to ask him to repeat the question as I heard him doing other things on the other end of the call. All in all, I think I answered his questions to the best of my ability and did fairly well. Three hours after my Skype interview, I received a rejection email. Being a little disappointed since I did do a lot of research on Flexport and it seemed like a great opportunity, I sent an email to ask how I could improve or any feedback on my interview. NO RESPONSE. Advice to HR: If you are a company that preaches hiring the best, then you need to operate like you are the best. I understand that startup life is hectic and you cannot always coordinate everyones busy work schedules for an interview. Then I seriously advise you to reorganize your interviewing scheme since this does not seem to be working. Very disorganized for a logistics company (ironic). I have never left a review for an interview or anything like this before, but I was seriously frustrated by this whole experience and needed to express my dissatisfaction.
