      29 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Flexport

      Interview

Applied for Front-end developer position and was thrown three algorithm questions that can only be done with C, C++ or Java. There is no one single question about web/front-end/javascript during the process.

Hello, Desmond here. I'm an engineering manager at Flexport. I'm sorry you had a negative experience interviewing at Flexport. We’ve used your feedback to make changes to our pre-onsite interview process. Previously we sent candidates three online challenges: one for algorithms, one for data structures, and one that’s coding a messy real world problem. These questions allow you to code in a language of your choice, but we didn’t realize that one of them only allowed Python, Java, or C++ submissions. We’ve changed this question so that it now accepts submissions in 16 different languages, including JavaScript. (Just like the other two questions.) While there are no front-end specific questions in the pre-onsite challenge, we believe the questions we ask are a good representation of the kind of work that’s performed at Flexport engineering. We do ask front-end specific questions during the onsite interview. Thanks for considering Flexport.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Flexport

      Interview

Tryplebyte Really interesting because I applied for a FE role and was given a tryplebyte test full of Backend questions and languages such as C++, python and Java. Also questions about system design. I wasn't expecting some of the BE questions I did the quiz just for the heck of it I didn't pass the quiz, which wasn't unexpected even though I did fairly ok for lots of skills that are not FE related. What I believe was a bad experience for me was the noreply email with the rejection The whole experience felt very impersonal, I wasn't even given a chance to speak to a recruiter. Thanks for the tryplebyte survey. I actually added the results to my tryplebyte profile since I got level 3 on BE, this is laughable, I don't even code on BE and got level 3 The quiz, is not a good measurement of a person's skill. I am a top performer as a FE dev at my current company.

      Question 1

After a database transaction is committed, a foreign key is no longer present in a related table. Which ACID property is being violated in this situation? Why do programs with bad memory leaks often slow down before they crash?
