      I recently interviewed for a Payroll Specialist position. I was disappointed by the recruitment process rather than the outcome itself. From the initial HR screening, I was completely transparent that my payroll experience was limited to assisting with payroll activities and that I had not independently run payroll end-to-end. This was also clear from my CV. Despite this, I was invited to proceed through two interview rounds, one-hour interview each with the different hiring team. After investing significant time in the process, I was ultimately rejected because the company was looking for someone with hands-on payroll processing experience. While I respect the decision, this was information that had been disclosed from the very beginning and discussed during the first screening call with People Operations Generalist. The role advertisement also stated that training would be provided, which gave the impression that candidates with relevant transferable experience would be considered. I would have appreciated greater clarity earlier in the process regarding the level of hands-on payroll experience required. The interviewers were professional and courteous throughout, but I feel the process could have been more efficient and transparent for candidates.
