Interview
Applied and received an email from an outside recruiter to schedule a phone interview. Responded to email and received no reply. Received a second email from recruiter and again replied. Finally received a response and scheduled a call. Spoke with recruiter who went over my resume and experience. Told me my info would be passed to the next level recruiter to schedule an interview. Informed me I was over qualified and would be better suited for higher roles. Told I would be called within two weeks and a week later I get a canned email response that while my resume is impressive there are better qualified candidates they are pursuing. So I’m overqualified but there are better candidates that have that much experience applying for teller roles?
The interview process was pretty typical old-fashioned interviewing style. First there was a telephone screening with someone from HR. Then an interview in the branch with the manager and the senior operations services supervisor. Questions were largely situational in nature. Things like, 'tell me about a time you handled a mistake in your business'. It felt more about finding generally acceptable answers to interview questions than about getting to know the individual applicant.

Interview
Two employees interviewed me for a $11/hr teller position. They asked if I had any cash handling experience and I said I had worked at a coffee shop and used the register and counted down the drawer at the end of the day. They kind of looked at each other and laughed. I felt like I was being mocked for not having what they considered “good enough” cash handling experience. I would argue the teller position is entry level and they shouldn’t expect someone willing to accept that rate of pay to have years of experience.

Very easy going I really enjoyed it and although I was nervous all went well. I definitely would recommend people to study more about banking interview questions, so they get a better understanding of how all works and what salary they can base on.
