I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fidessa (Belfast, Northern Ireland) in Jul 2016
Interview
I went through a recruitment company. Had initial telephone screening (approx 20 minutes) with QA team manager within a few days, then onsite (approx 2 hours) a few days later. The onsite was in 3 parts: part 1 was HR type person asking questions about salary expectations, what you know about the company and filling out a form with a bunch of your personal details; part 2a was a series of 30 questions that very closely resembled questions on ISEB/ISTQB tests - it was marked and feedback given that I scored approximately 80% correct; part 2b was 3 coding questions. No feedback was given on them there and then, but I believe I would have scored OK on them because I got back to my office and coded them up to check my answers; part 3 was a bunch of HR-type and scenario-based interview questions lasting approximately 1 hour.
The interview went well, I felt we had good rapport and I answered the questions solidly. One of the interviewers actually complimented me on how well it had gone in their opinion.
On the basis of all of the above, I was really hopeful of a positive result. However...
I was told by the recruiter 3 days after the interview that Fidessa did not wish to proceed. That's it. Nothing more. No feedback. Maybe Brexit had affected their recruitment or something like that. If so, then why had they called me in for interview as it was only 3 days before that? Really gutted as it feels like a total waste of time for both parties.
Many thanks for your feedback on the interview you had with Fidessa. We do like to give all candidates feedback after interviews and I'm sorry that this hasn't been communicated to you. I'm more than happy to run through the comments from the hiring team, please can you contact me on kevin.keegan@fidessa.com. Many thanks, Kevin. (Recruitment Manager - EMEA, Fidessa).
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fidessa (New York, NY) in May 2016
Interview
Applied Online and got asked to complete online exam. Exam was 12 questions long and there was a 70 minute time limit. No code questions just how you would solve certain problems.
I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fidessa in Jan 2016
Interview
Applied in Jan 2016 , got a screening test in about a week(which consisted of behavioral questions and some questions related to QA testing. Cleared the screening Test . Phone interview was scheduled after few days , the recruiter calls up and ask few behavioral questions . The overall process was smooth and fast , the recruiting manager was also nice and was very friendly.
