I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fetch in Feb 2025
Interview
The time requirements for this interview are extremely disrespectful of your time. You literally have to build a fully deployed app from scratch using their provided APIs. You have to deploy it on Github Pages, or some other medium that you decide (which, in most cases, if you don't use Github Pages, it costs money out of your own pocket to deploy an app). They have the audacity to say "it should only take you a few hours" and "work at your leisure"; however, building a full end-to-end app in just a few hours is not possible, and we all know you can't "work at your leisure" to be competitive in an interview setting. You are required to build a login page, a paginated and sortable set of data, and a results page. Btw, you can't use a table for the paginated data, because you have to include all the provided data which includes images for each set of data. Considering this, you have to come up with a custom display for this data, if you want it to look concise, meaning it takes extra long to build. Also, it takes even more time if you want to add interactivity and animations. All of this for a first interview is a huge red flag, especially when we consider other companies time-box their interviews and give you a premade template to work off of. Also, they send you a rejection letter saying they aren't willing to give you feedback? That's another disrespectful red flag for you. Keep in mind, I had to learn an entire new frontend stack to build this, and I spent extra time making it responsive, interactive, animated, etc. I spent nearly 40 hours on a first interview! I'm disappointed in myself for spending that long on a first interview, instead of walking away. They also promised they would review my code within 24-48 hours, and I didn't hear anything for 2+ weeks. All of this tells me the company will not respect your time or effort, and that your work life balance will be non-existent. These things also tell me that the company has a toxic culture. I would stay away.

Received a take home test. Had to create a sample app that hits their test API's. Probably spent around 30 hours on the project. I was ghosted after I submitted the project and the recruiter would not respond to any emails.
