Filled out an application online, got a call for an interview the next day, and went to the interview two days later. When I got there, the assistant manager said the manager had said there weren't any interviews for that day (should have been the first warning sign), but when she looked, saw multiple interviews scheduled. She told me to wait and walk around, and as I did, I heard her complaining to the guy that worked there about how she hates doing interviews. I had about a three minute interview in the game room with her and she asked simple questions such as why I thought I'd be a good fit, who was my role model, what my favorite movies were and why, and a couple of other questions. After that, then they decide if they want to proceed by giving you a test. She took me to a computer and started me on a test that consisted of 7 or 8 parts, with some being math, reading, word comprehension, synonyms, etc. I felt that the whole test was absolutely ridiculous for a video store. The math was hard and beyond what I know was even necessary. The whole test is timed by the way, with about 5 minutes on each section. (During the test, a woman who looked to be in her 30's came in and the assistant manager gave her an interview, and then lied and told her she'd have to call her to schedule a time for her to take the test. After the woman walked out, she made fun of her and said how stupid she was to the guy working at the front and said how there was no way she was calling her.) After I was done, I went and found her, and she came over and looked at my final score, which you need 70% or higher to pass. I did pass significantly and she offered me a job right there. I accepted since I only planned on using this temporarily (I'm 19). She then told me a starting date, wages, etc. I wasn't scheduled to start until next week, when I got a call about three days ago, asking why I wasn't at work. I told them I wasn't supposed to start until next week, to which the manager replied, "Oh... oh yeah." and hangs up. Then yesterday, I get a call from the same manager, asking if we could set up an interview because they like my application. I explain to her that I was already hired and was scheduled to work next week. She then says, "Really? Well my bad I guess." I then quit over the phone. This was the most unprofessional interview/hiring experience I have ever had.
