I had a great experience during my onsite interview at X-ES for a role on the firmware engineering team in mid-late 2022. HR was incredibly helpful and clear when discussing the role and next steps. All of the engineers I met seemed competent, understanding, and easy to imagine working with.
When I arrived, I was given a tour of the (relatively new) headquarters by my HR recruiter. We walked through all areas of the building and I was able to get a feel for where I'd be working and what the workflow looked like at X-ES.
Next, I had a few sequential rounds of interviews with the engineers. Each round felt easy-going and like they were interested in getting to know you personally in addition to your skills/experience. They cared at least as much about your thought process and ability to share it as correct answers. They were happy to answer any question I had.
If you are fairly qualified for the role, accurately understand your strengths and weaknesses, and can actively contribute/learn in small-team settings, I'd say you are exactly what they're looking for and should have no issues.
It was my favorite interview yet and I would have accepted had personal circumstances not changed during my offer period.
