I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Etsy (New York, NY) in Mar 2018
Interview
Call with HR. Next steps would've been a call with Hiring Manager. Then an in-person with 4-5 people from the division.
I was referred for a position. HR reached out to me a day or two later and offered an alternative position that they thought I'd be a better fit for. Phone call went great. Said they were moving me to the next round - call with Hiring Manager - and would hear back in 1-2 days to set that up.
Didn't hear back for a week. Had to reach out via email to follow up. Heard back a day or so after follow-up email with generic message that hiring manager thought I wasn't the right fit, but that they would keep me in mind for other roles.
Found it odd that HR recruited me for a particular role, was enthusiastic about moving me to the next round, but was then slow to respond / sent generic message that I wasn't the right fit. Doesn't give HR much credibility.
