      Retention Marketing Manager Interview

      28 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Etsy

      Interview

The interview process was pretty in-line with most other similar companies with a recruiter, hiring manager, and panel round. After the final round of interviews, though, the recruiter said they'd follow up either way the following week and I didn't hear from them for nearly a month when I finally reached out to follow up. I'm totally fine with them going with a stronger candidate but didn't appreciate them ghosting me after I expressed my interest in the role and company.

      Retention Marketing Manager Interview

      14 May 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Etsy in Mar 2022

      Interview

The process was fairly typical. There was a phone screen w/recruiter, interview w/hiring manager, 1:1 interviews with teammates and stakeholders spread across two days, and one final check-in with recruiter where we recapped the process.

Situation-based questions and case studies were the norm. Everything felt very conversational!

      Retention Marketing Manager Interview

      9 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Etsy (London, England) in Feb 2021

      Interview

Etsy's interview process is nothing short of unprofessional. I had read previous reviews of interviewees being ghosted by Etsy after lengthy interview processes but couldn't believe this could be true for a company who claims to keep commerce human. Sadly I was mistaken. After being contacted on LinkedIn by an internal recruiter and told how my experience and previous brand experience was the perfect fit for the role I agreed to a call with the hiring manager. Updates were sketchy throughout the process but after being interviewed by 6 different individuals across several days I made it to the final round. I was told to prepare 5 references and wait for feedback on the final round. The next email I receive is a questionaire on my thoughts of the interview process. As the interview process wasn't finished I didn't understand why this was sent and was told it was a mistake and I was going to hear back on next steps shortly. But, I never did. I chased several times and a month went by with no response. No formal rejection (written or verbal). To spend many hours preparing, then many hours being interviewed at times outside of UK working hours (that suited the US office) and then to be ignored is disrespectful and unproffessional. We've all had a tough year and it doesn't take much to be professional and kind. NOTHING HUMAN ABOUT ETSY.
