      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Esri

      Interview

The process consisted of 5 virtual interviews, most of which were about an hour. They were very spaced out, I wouldn’t hear from them for around a week between calls. They didn’t require any kind of presentation from the applicant.

      Interview

Strange energy about this place. 6 rounds of interviews and very little agreement on what they were actually looking for in a candidate. Took ten week before receiving a rejection. Rounds one and two with recruiter then hiring manager went very smooth. Round three was a presentation with a panel of 8-10 people. Received very positive feedback on presentation until one panelist started to basically berate me and my qualifications. Told me I was entirely unqualified and would receive no respect from anyone without a professional degree. Was not productive at all, was just unprofessional. Big red flag Somehow I moved on to round four with sales manger which went great. Round five with department director who asked me one question then basically wanted to end interview. In retrospect he took one look at my resume and decided I did not have a specific qualification they were looking for. Recruiter then lets me know they will not be moving forward due to not having experience speaking directly to one type of client. Not sure if this was the real reason, but if it was, why conduct five rounds of interviews to determine this? It was evident from my resume from the start. To conduct five rounds of interviews over ten weeks and reject a candidate based on a fact they knew upfront is a complete waste of everyone's time. I can see working at Esri could be a good experience for some people, but there are some glaring issues in recruiting and HR process. Seems to be very little "out of the box" thinking from up above.
