I got an email from a manager saying they wanted to talk about the position. From the get-go, he was surprisingly rude. He said I had a bad resume and he just felt like he had to interview me. Then when I asked him where I should improve, he said he was not at liberty to discuss with me. He asked me about a manuscript I have in review currently and he wanted specific details. Anyone who has a manuscript in review or prepared for submission knows that you cannot discuss specific details out of respect for your colleagues and your work. Then he told me I dont stand out. I just laughed it all off but I was really frustrated and I found the attitude to be slightly sexist. He ended the conversation with saying he might never talk to me again! Well HR followed up and asked about salary expectations and some behavioral stuff. They said I'd move to the final round. I didn't hear back for a month. When I checked Esri's portal, I saw I had been rejected. Since then, I have applied to two Esri jobs that I honestly felt overqualified for in professional and academic experience and I have been automatically rejected. Really disappointing all around.
