Applied online. Got an email from the hiring manager that he would like to schedule a phone interview for 30 mins. Phone interview was pretty standard, HR type questions. The hiring manager called himself. Interview went well as I got an email for onsite interview with 3 more people one on one. Spent over 5 hours onsite. Lilly follows STAR method. Questions were behavioral based - tell me of a time when you had a challenging situation and how did you overcome that?
At Lilly, for non entry level positions, this whole interview process is merely to comply with HR policy. The hiring managers already know who they want to hire, issue a requisition after they have selected a candidate, and get some applications from outside to prove that they did their due diligence and then eventually hire the candidate they had already selected, in most situations, an internal one. This has been confirmed by insiders of the organization. This is all a joke and very unethical. If you want to hire your internal candidates, by all means please do that. Don't waste candidates' time and energy into preparing for the interview. Highly misleading.
