      Designer/Generalist Interview

      4 Aug 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Salt Lake City, UT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Eat Sleep Play (Salt Lake City, UT) in Jul 2013

      Interview

I heard through my network grapevine that Eat Sleep Play (ESP) was looking for a game designer to join their team. The application was informal, basically emailing the head of HR. After about a week, I followed up with ESP via email and they responded very quickly. After my follow up email on Monday, I was contacted by ESP Tuesday morning and asked to come in for an interview Thursday. The Interview took about two hours. I met with eight of the current employees, including the CEO and the Operation Manager. Te interview went very well. Considering that they are a smaller studio, they are always looking for people who can wear multiple hats. My background in game development ranges from IT to design and everything in between. As I said before, I interviewed with eight of ESP's current employees. They all grilled me on topics in each of their departments. Questions concerning art, tech, design, IT, Audio...etc. All of the employees were very professional even though the interview was casual. (NO SUITS!!!) After my interview, that I felt went very well, I was told that the studio would follow up with me in the next day or so. It took about four hours. I got a call the afternoon, right after my interview, with a job offer. I took it.
