Overall the interview process wasn't great. They first asked me to complete a written test, without a pre-screening interview first. I found this very strange, and disrespectful of my time. By the time I got to the face-to-face interview it became clear they weren't willing to hire someone who wanted to WFH, so I wish they did a phone interview first so we could have ended the interview process then. The written test was basically a case study of a company and I had to write a mini grant proposal for them.
The next stage was a virtual interview with 3 people. Only one asked me questions while the others clearly were not paying attention. They asked basic interview questions, and then some really weird and hard to answer questions like "how do you approach writing?", "whats your writing style?" (I mean what do you say? persuasive? descriptive? writing style changes based on the purpose of a piece). In addition to being weird questions, they already saw my written work so I'd assume they'd know.
At they end I could tell they weren't interested, but they asked for my references anyway. They didn't call them so I found it strange they even asked .
