Question 1
Do you think relationship building through education and in-services is something you will be comfortable with?
I applied online. I interviewed at Dysphagia Management Systems in Jan 2022
Interview
I was initially charmed by two wonderful speech therapists during the first rounds of interviews (I loved them!). It felt like a dream job and, admittedly, it seemed too good to be true. But then I had my final interview with the owner, and everything changed. She was condescending, rude, and had strong narcissistic tendencies. When I asked about how the company was adapting to evolving practices in dysphagia and expressed concerns about adhering to a “secret” protocol for all patients (since dysphagia isn’t one-size-fits-all), the owner completely berated me. She snapped, “I’ve been doing this for 20 years. How long have you been doing this? What do you know?” She was unnecessarily cruel and dismissive.
They still offered me the job, but there was no way I would ever work for someone who treated me like that, especially on the very first day. Her defensiveness about her practices made it clear that she isn't open to feedback or growth. After finding these reviews, I wanted to share my experience. I worry this company preys on young SLPs by offering promises of great training and knowledge (something many of us crave after school), only to treat them poorly and possibly not even teach them the right things. It’s a toxic environment I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
