      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2019

      Interview

This was the most negative interview experience I had throughout a 2 month recruiting process with over a dozen companies. I interviewed for the business analyst role for the Sales Strategy and Operations team. I was initially scouted by one of the managers, then had intro calls with HR. From there on, I had two separate interviews with two members of the team, both were 45min-1hr business case interviews. These went well and I had a great experience up until this point. Afterwards, I was assigned a technical assignment - which I was given a weekend to complete. I devoted the entire weekend to this assignment and was scheduled a follow up call with the team. I expected to present the assignment and walk them through my methodology and thought process, as well as field any critique. However, when I hopped on the phone for this 5th component of the interview, I was instead put straight into yet another business case interview -- in which it seemed that this time, the interviewer was looking for any loopholes in my answers rather than walking through problems/evaluating mindset and problem solving ability. At the end of the interview, I asked whether or not the project had even seen by the team - to which I was given a terse "No" with no mention of whether this would occur or if there would be next steps. After this call, I waited some time for a follow up then reached out only to receive a generic email that we would not be moving ahead. This process had taken upwards of 3 weeks, in which I had been working a full time job and interviewing with other companies. It was a considerable amount of time committed, and I was shocked by the lack of professionalism delivered by DoorDash here, especially in contrast to the other companies I was interviewing with (for more technical roles, with both smaller/larger teams). There was no acknowledgment that my project was even looked at, and there was no answer received from the team in regards to feedback for the future either. Unfortunately my view of the company has changed for the worse after this interview experience and I would not be able to recommend.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2018

      Interview

Interview started with a basic phone screen, before moving on to a take-home case study assignment with a 24 hour turnaround time. The case study was not particularly difficult, but it helps to know some of the nuances of DoorDash's business. After the take-home assignment, there was a 3 hour phone interview where 2 different people went over case studies focusing on the Dasher and Merchant side of the business. The cases were straight forward, but I'd recommend encouraging your interviewer to stay focused on the questions they are given. One of my interviewers went off script and we had a great free-flowing conversation about a nuanced aspect of DoorDash's business, but then I later found out I would not be moving forward because my answers were not structured enough.

      Question 1

Deliveries are taking longer in the “downtown” region (downtown defined broadly). Why could this be and what solutions do you propose?
