The interview process was pretty streamlined Step 1: Phone call with the hiring manager Step 2: Analytical Exercise (they said it takes 4 hours but it takes at least 10 hours) Step 3: Final round on-site interview at HQ in San Francisco DoorDash does a great job of moving the process along in a timely and efficient manner. However, the process is fundamentally disrespectful of people's time and energy. The analytical exercise should be the last step in the process. It should also be pared down and not require so much of a candidate's time. In addition, apparently the team I interviewed with had not even seen the exercise I spent so much time on. During the final round, I was informed by a VP that I was too senior for the role (something that should have been deciphered much earlier on). I was then told a few days later that the company was not extending an offer because they wanted someone who was plug and play, whereas I was switching from financial services (again, something that was easy to recognize earlier on in the process). I was also not informed that the on-site interview would also have a case study component (after I had already spent 10+ hours on the analytical exercise that most people did not bother to review). If you are giving someone a case study, it is common courtesy to inform them of the format of the interviews so they are mentally prepared. I was under the impression the final round interviews were behavioral only. Overall, my experience echos the countless experiences people have shared on Glassdoor and the multiple experiences my friends have shared regarding their interview experiences at DoorDash.
