Initial call with someone on the BD team went well. It was about 30 minutes long. Later that same day, I was told that they want me to complete a "take-home test" that I would have 48 hours to complete.
When I got the test, it had four business strategy questions. I completed it as a Word doc. I found out two days after submitting the document to the recruiter that the hiring team was not interested in pursuing my candidacy further.
Many reviewers of this company say that Doordash doesn't provide feedback on the test. This was not true for me. The recruiter who called me was polite and specific; in my case, I hadn't included enough data points to back up my assertions.
The completely open format of the test is a good thing, so that people can pick a communication medium that helps their ideas shine. However, I do think that it would be helpful if they give some kind of rubric or signal on how they'll be evaluating it.
There are not very many work environments where a person does tasks in a silo, with no feedback or guidance. Revising the test would help Doordash get a more complete picture of the candidate.
Still, due to their fast response times, politeness, and specific feedback at the time of the rejection, I give these guys a thumbs up.
