The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Dollar General (Sunbury, OH) in Oct 2011
Interview
I put an application in at the store and at a later time was called by the hiring store manager asking if I could come by the store for an interview. I drove over and met the manager, he seemed very nice and was polite. Not pushy, rude, or anything unappealing. We walked through the store, talking as we went. He let me know what was going to be expected of me, and when I would report for my first day. Then he had me take an assessment test. It took about 30 minutes. Later he called me and said my test results were back and I had done well, and I could start as soon as their background check was completed,
I interviewed at Dollar General (Roanoke Rapids, NC)
Interview
The interview process was laid back and I felt comfortable to ask the hiring manager questions. I was respected and understood everything the manager was saying. I went into the back and we sat down and she told me about my position. She made it very clear as to what I had to do. She let me ask my questions that I had written before.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The one thing they asked me was why I wanted the job.
I applied online through the website and the managed called me. I scheduled an interview over the phone. I was taken to the office where she asked me some questions (I don't remember them) and I handed her my resume. She basically hired me there, I think.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Dollar General (Gower, MO) in Aug 2025
Interview
They told me my responsibilities and I was hired. The only question I was asked is "Do you have any questions?" Most definitely the easiest interview of my life. I got hired for showing up.
