I applied online. I interviewed at Digital Asset Holdings (Zßrich) in Jan 2025
Interview
I had a first call with a recruiter. The recruiter was very friendly and was talking a lot (which is fine). This was the usual first interview about the position, the company and the candidate's background. I was asked to introduce myself and to talk about why I was interested in the role.
I had the feeling that it went well, but then I was ghosted despite following up by email.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Digital Asset Holdings
Interview
I was invited to the hiring process with direct recommendation from current DA employee.
First was a 30m interview with the Recruitment Manager.
2 weeks after; there was a 30m interview set up to discuss with a team lead who offered the choice between coding assignment or live coding. I opted for the home assignment.
1 week after; there was a 30m interview set up to discuss the assignment... which they failed to send beforehand so I couldn't prepare any questions. After a few confusing minutes we went through the requirements together and it was clear.
3 days after; there was a 30m interview to present my code. I went through the code, answered a few questions - it went smoothly.
4 days after something happened;
there was a 1h design interview set up with an architect and a software engineer. The software engineer joined the call first and he asked me âHow are you?â I told him ânot great, I am sickâ. Then the architect joined and I also told him that I was sick when answering the question âHow are you?â but he didn't react to it: I was surprised none of them offered to reschedule the interview.
Then we spent a boring 30m of filling a shared google document table with simple scenarios of transactions between 2 parties âŚ
After that we finally started the API design using protobuf. (...)
After 10m when we reached the 40m mark the architect wanted to stop the interview and told me âitâs not going anywhereâ âyou are very slowâ âthere is a big difference with the previous interview feedbackâ.
I repeated again that I was sick and not feeling well but he complained that I didn't cancel and even asked me âare you even sure you could do better if not sick?â.
I value honesty as well as politeness and elegance but that was quite an unpleasant experience.
I then sent an email to the hiring contact but she never answered.
6 weeks later I got a generic negative email from the Recruitment Manager unrelated to the events...
