I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Department of Infrastructure and Transport in Jul 2022
Interview
Submit CV, transcript, and written task about why you want to work at the department.
If you were successfully, you will be invited to complete another written task and video interview.
Finally, the assessment centre. Very chill. Nothing out of the ordinary but very well organised (I believe Hays helped set up the entire recruitment process). You also had the opportunity to hang out (virtually) with a few of the grads. Interview was very quick and easy behavioral questions (4 questions). Overall, a very good experience.

Question 1
Why do you want to work at the Department of Infrastructure?
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Department of Infrastructure and Transport (Brisbane)
Interview
This involved a psychometric test, interview and assessment centre. From memory, the psychometric tests were pretty standard - there are lots of published examples out there to practise on. Like many Australian public service interviews, the interview was largely behaviourally based, ie 'give us an example of a time when you....'. The assessment centre involved both a group task and an individual task.

Question 1
None that I can think of. The staff made the whole process highly welcoming, warm and personal (a wonderful reflection on the organisation and what it would be like to work there), and were happy to rephrase and restate questions if you were unsure of what was required.
