I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Delta Air Lines (Atlanta, GA)
Interview
The process before my face to face was about a month long. I applied via referral and got straight to the video interview in three days. I submitted my video answering in star method the 4 questions and really got into it.. It made my responses more genuine and less rehearsed even though I did prepare a list of questions and responses in advance using the glass door advice. I got my phone call and email about 10 days later and offered a face to face. I was flown out the night before curtesy of delta, stayed at the Hyatt at my own expense and had my interview the next morning at 730. I arrived at the f2f with a few others who also stayed at my hotel and we were one of first there. Being there so early let us get acquainted with a few others also interviewing that morning before going in to the official interview with delta employees. It was a while before we were separated into groups abc and each headed to their area after about 15 minutes of socializing with people in the room lined with delta employees wall to wall. During the face to face I was very anxious but my nerves came off as excitement. It was not overwhelming or as nerve wrecking as I imagined, everyone was calm and friendly. I was in group a which means I had the face to face portion completed first with both one recruiter and one one flight attendant. They were both super nice and and so warm I was expecting them to be cold and emotionless as stated by others on this site. They actually assisted me when I didn't say enough by asking for specifics even though I did answer in star format to the T. I honestly felt that they wanted me to do well and feel comfortable which I did. The questions were similar to those from the video interview but I did stumble on one question which I had asked for a pass to another question, this they were glad to do. But I did have to go back to that question once I was done with the rest. I mostly winged that one but I sounded so confident that I'm sure they didn't notice. I was very proud of myself once I was done with that portion and was grateful it was over with from the beginning. I then went to destination delta which was us introducing ourself in front of all of our group as well as two people judging us from the back and the gentleman who would later explain the process of becoming an FA the pay and how schedules work. After I introduced myself which I did in an open friendly manner as if I had known them all my whole life I smiled spoke clearly and made a little joke about not knowing Spanish although I should, this got a pleasant reaction from the judges in the back. I do think being yourself in the part is most important to show them that you are genuinely personable, can vocalize announcements if necessary with confidence and poise. The next group movement was the the fireside chat which was not us answering questions until we had no more questions for the FA who was entertaining us while everyone else finished up. These questions varied and we're just short answer personal or knowledge questions. This was the time we were photographed and did the reach test to be sure we reached the dimensions necessary to open the aircraft door without shoes or tipi-toeing . They asked about any tattoos which I was honest about having some that were not visible (on my ribs and my hip) they said no problem, they would not be seen in uniform. The interviewees were all done with every portion of the interview at this point and we were asked to sit in the middle as they called out the names of those who were put in another room. The rest were brought to the shuttle back to the airport and told to expect a yes or no via email. While the result of us were congratulated with a conditional job offer pending background drug screen and passing of training . The drug screen and fingerprinting were done following the interview across the street in another building. It took about 2-3 extra hours to process this part and then we had to get our own transport to the airport. All in all I enjoyed the process and am excited to officially be a part of the delta family.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Think work environment and situations which have occurred to you in the past
I am currently in the interview process for the FA position and have reached the ODV part of it. Most of the questions are expierenced based, so I would recommend just thinking of the times you have exceeded the customer service baseline before hand.
