I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Deliveroo in Apr 2016
Interview
Miniscule telephone interview. Ridiculous trial shift with a courier who showed up 90 minutes late without a heads up. We should meet at a square in Nottingham at 1230. I was 10 minutes early. It was quite cold and raining.
At 1315 I saw another bicycle courier, I asked him for my contact person. He knew him and gave him a call. He was doing a delivery and should be there soon.
I was waiting with another person who also had a meeting at 1230 buy with a different courier.
At 1350 I checked my phone, I had a missed call. I called the number back, it was my trial shift courier. He wanted to meet me at a restaurant 15 minutes ago to do a delivery.
Finally at 1400 I met my instructor courier. We had a small talk, then we could do a delivery. Without a proper warning he sprinted away from a restaurant, uphill and later downhill for about 5 minutes taking 3 - 5 red lights. I lost about 15 to 20 seconds on him. The way back to city Centre was about the same.
I lost sight on him at the end of the uphill part. Around the corner he was waiting for me, and told me directly I will not be hired. Because there is a lot of interest in this job and I did not get up to speed quick enough.
So he leaves me waiting in the rain for 90 minutes, with no communication. My muscles were all stiff and cold. Then he beats me with 2 sprints. And rejects me. He was doing this work for 8 months, 40 to 50 hours a week.
I don't really mind that I was to slow in his opinion. But at least show up on time, and give someone an honest trial shift.
This was ridiculous.
Good luck!

I had to make a test ride with an instructor, it was easy, just remember to indicate your turns. They will give you an address to go to and a time in which you have to get there and they will then follow you on your way. I had to do three of these little trips and that was pretty much it
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Deliveroo (Portsmouth, South East England, England) in May 2018
Interview
After applying online, I was told there were no spaces in my area. A couple of days later, I got an email saying they were now recruiting new people and to follow the links to book my onboarding interview. It was easy to book and gave information about what documents I needed to bring. I turned up with my bike, expecting it to be checked before they hired me but the interview was just taking my previous addresses, passport and siging a supplier agreement. I was also given a DBS.
