      Senior Consultant Interview

      13 May 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks (Sydney) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Initial communication was via a LinkedIn direct message, and following that a phone call to understand my technical background and experience. I was talking directly to the recruiter, and he explained the role and the job responsibilities. Initially quite informal and casual chat. I then met with the consultant lead and he asked me a few more basic spark questions. I gathered that he was quite sceptical of my experience to my surprise, although I have been working with the largest cloud based big data customers in the world (AWS) and an internally recognised spark expert. His general understanding of the cloud based big data offerings was quite limited, and I corrected him on a few things. Next interview was a technical round with a senior consultant. It was short and he only really asked some basic but leading questions. I didn't really get a good feel for his role and he seemed a bit stressed and short. No offer and not even the slightest follow up after the last interview. Generally a relatively disorganised interview process.
