I had a 1:1 phone call w/ CEO. It took roughly 30-45 minutes. The CEO explained the business. It was a very straight forward phone screen, and we both did not feel it made sense to move forward.
I applied online. I interviewed at DZAP Group (San Diego, CA)
Interview
Typical interview process. You start with phone interview and then move to an in office interview if they decide to move you forward. I actually interviewed for DZAP twice for 2 different positions.
The first time I passed the phone screening and came in for an in office interview. I thought it went pretty well, the employees I spoke with were really nice and seemed impressed/interested in me. Sent a thank you email the next day, a follow up email the next week, and another follow up email 2 weeks after my interview. NO RESPONSE....
I wanted to give the company another try and applied for another position a year later. Got the phone interview and the interviewer seemed really impressed with my application. She said she will have to talk to her manager to confirm a few things. Sent thank you email the next day and a follow up email one week later. NO RESPONSE AGAIN.
I found this very unprofessional. Please don't waste applicants time if you have no interest in them. I was left hanging after my first interview for weeks and had to accept that they were not going to respond. Throughout my career, I have never encountered a company so unprofessional and fake. Be aware if you are applying to work at DZAP.

common interview questions about experience, goals, etc.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at DZAP Group
Interview
This was a fairly straightforward process. I went through a recruiter, took a code test, spoke to the head of project management about an interview and came in. It was sort of a round table interview with the CEO and heads of different departments.
It really is about your skill as well as your personality because once you're here, you realize how well everyone works together and gets along in the dev department, unlike some places I've been in the past.
I answered to the best of my ability and it felt like a really organic conversation came out of a lot of the questions. Everyone was very nice and they do throw in some challenging questions, but answering honestly instead of embellishing is really the key.
