I interviewed at DTEN (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

The interview process was a frustrating and ultimately disappointing experience. My second-round interview was scheduled for 2:00 PM with the CEO, but upon arrival I was informed he was unavailable and would not be free until 3:30 PM. During the unexpected delay, I met with the CFO (who also described himself as acting COO and responsible for “everything, even garbage collection,” in his own words), which immediately raised concerns about organizational structure and leadership bandwidth. That conversation itself was also challenging. I was asked broadly about my experience with “channel partners” without any context, and when I took a moment to thoughtfully frame a response—given the wide range of partner models—I was met with visible impatience. When I asked about their own channel strategy, the response lacked clarity; only CDW was mentioned, and there was no further articulation of their partner ecosystem, which is also not clearly reflected on their website. The CEO meeting eventually began around 3:45 PM, nearly two hours late, without acknowledgment or apology for the delay. The tone of the discussion felt more like an aggressive interrogation than a professional conversation, with little regard for mutual evaluation or respect for my time. Overall, the experience reflected a lack of organization, poor communication, and an executive culture that felt misaligned with a collaborative and respectful work environment. Based on this experience, I would not consider an opportunity with this company, even if offered.
