First Round
The initial round of interviews at Crystal Fountain was a positive experience. The process was straightforward, and the questions were manageable, focusing on fundamental software engineering principles and problem-solving skills. The interviewers were professional and created a comfortable environment, which helped ease any initial nerves.
Second Round
The second round, however, presented some challenges. It seemed that the company might have already leaned towards another candidate, which affected the dynamics of the interview. The CTO conducted this round but did not engage deeply with technical questions, perhaps suggesting that their decision was already made.
Additionally, the product manager participated in this round. While they were friendly and approachable, their lack of technical expertise led to questions that were not directly related to software development. This shift in focus made it difficult to showcase my technical skills and experience.
Overall Impression
Despite the hiccups in the second round, the overall interview process at Crystal Fountain was well-organized. The staff were courteous and welcoming, which contributed to a generally positive experience. While the second round left some room for improvement, particularly in aligning interview questions with the role's technical requirements, the company culture appeared to be friendly and supportive.
Recommendation: For future candidates, it might be beneficial to prepare for a broader range of questions, including those that might not be directly related to technical skills, especially when interviewing with non-technical stakeholders.
