      Senior Quality Automation Engineer Interview

      5 Jul 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at CrowdCompass (Portland, OR) in Jun 2017

      Interview

      1. Short phone call with a quality manager 2. Take-home coding challenge - automate a website 3. Online aptitude test 4. In-person interviews with leads, managers & director. 1 panel-style, then couple small group interviews. All back to back in one day. An employee referred me. I had heard good things, so I was pretty interested to work there before I even met the people. But after I met the managers and senior people, now I really want to work there. Everyone was awesome. The interviews seemed pretty average. The questions were broad, so I gave kind of broad answers. They didn't really go deeper unless I prompted them by asking "does that answer your question?" Which make sense. It was a senior position. I should be the one doing most of the work. Nobody asked me to go over the code I had previously written for their tech challenge. I wish they had, because the challenge was really interesting, and I could talk all day about the bugs I found, and my approach to automating them. I got the feeling the Director was not impressed by me. But he's the kind of guy where even when he's telling you no, you still feel like he's on your side. He's that good. The people made it such an awesome experience, that I'm now making it my life's goal to work at CrowdCompass. I'm going to take a year to up my game, and then re-apply.
