      Senior Android Engineer Interview

      26 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Credit Karma (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2018

      Interview

TL;DR;: If you are Senior and employed do not apply. (<- this is from another review i read before i went in for the interview), Be careful, get everything in writing, nothing should be verbally communicated. Friend works there and sent in my resume for the position. Started out great, skipped the phone screen the manager was superb, would have loved to work with him. The team was great as well. After all the interviews went great, they gave me an offer, however, it was for a software engineer 2 position. Taking into consideration the experience I have and the position currently held at a different organization, it was insulting when they called me in for a Sr. Android engineer role and offered a SE2. Proceeded to ask them if the interview went badly (I know it didnt coz everything was answered with optimal solutions.) I was told they are super excited and apparently their leadership team doesnt hire for Sr. positions, we have to come in and "prove ourselves". Well then u should not bait someone into an 8 hour long interview process for a position that they think they are interviewing for since that is the position they are called to interview for!!!! All of this after they were informed I had already rejected multiple offers from other organizations that did not give me what I wanted compensation wise. Fix ur process and ur staff before they drive you into the ground!! Wasted 8 hours of my time, and gave me a sandwich for lunch. Wish i had known they would "bait and switch" on the position, since I would not even consider interviewing for a position i got out of college 6 years ago. Be very careful when dealing with them, get everything in writing from them in an email even before u come in, make sure you know the position you are interviewing for and have them forward the position to you from their job listing or something so when asked "Who told you its a SR. position" you can bring up the email. Most ridiculous process I have ever seen (Done over 30 interviews over the course of my career) this was for sure the worst thing that any organization has done to me, even before i joined!
