I first did a 30 min recruiter phone screen during which time the recruiter laid out the requirements of the role and talked about Credit Karma. She also told me the salary range which is lower than I was making but I appreciated her being upfront. I then did a 30 min phone interview with the hiring manager, then a several-hours-long writing test and then a nearly 5 hour onsite with 6 people. During the onsite, I found out that the hiring manager had just put in her 2 weeks notice. Someone else told me sort of randomly and I was actually unclear about who the new hiring manager was even going to be until later on when I was almost done. I was kind of irritated that they weren't more up front or didn't just put the position on hold prior to me coming in, but the role was exactly what I was looking for (or so I thought). Everyone was nice especially the product team members I met. It seems like they have a good company culture. However, I got the feeling that the "new" hiring manager wasn't looking for the same things the original manager wanted and had included in the job description.
After I left, I never heard back. Radio silence.
I eventually followed up with the recruiter and she said she'd check in with the hiring manager. About a week later, she told me they put the position on hold. I checked the website and the job description has been rewritten with different requirements. I thought I was a good fit and that my interview went well but obviously they changed their vision for the role without me knowing so I feel like I was doomed to fail. Had I known up front, I would never have applied.
