      Interview

I had a phone screening with a talent acquisition manager and it was about 30 min call. After that I reach out to the talent coordinator and we were able to have couple of emails back and forth. At one point, I could not hear back from the team for a while, I sent out again for an update and I could not send the email since "No address was found". I think this is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional that the HR did not let the candidate know regarding email address change or updating on alternative contact point...

      Application

      Interview

The interview process consisted of a phone screen with a recruiter, a 4-hour technical assessment, and then a video call with the hiring manager and another data scientist on the team to discuss my answers to the technical assessment and discuss a project I’ve worked on. The recruiter was pleasant. The technical assessment was (too) long but not overly difficult. The process fell apart in the interview with the hiring manager and data scientist. From the start of the interview, it seemed that the hiring manager didn't review my resume and didn't like my answers for the technical assessment. He took an adversarial approach to questioning me and expressed his lack of enthusiasm for my answers on the assessment and my responses to his questions. Shortly after the start of the interview he was visibly bored, began checking his phone, and was clearly only vaguely paying attention to what I was saying. The other data scientist on the call was pleasant and attempted to engage with me in a meaningful way, but I got the impression this was a situation where the hiring manager had already made up his mind about not wanting to move forward with me before the interview. The reason I’m giving this interview a negative experience rating is that my time was not valued (by being brought into what felt like an interview that was doomed before it even started) and the hiring manager was rude. If a hiring manager has significant doubts that a candidate is a good fit, then the candidate shouldn’t be brought in for an interview as it’s a waste of everyone’s time.
