Interview Process at Consumers Energy Services
Phone Interview
The initial step is a phone interview, where candidates are assessed for their fit with the company culture and their understanding of the role.
The recruiter typically asks questions about your experience, goals, and availability. It's also an opportunity to discuss the basic expectations of the position, such as work hours, responsibilities, and potential earnings.
The tone is conversational, and it usually lasts 10 minutes.
In-Person Interview
Candidates who pass the phone interview are invited for an in-person meeting at the office.
This step is more in-depth and focuses on your skills, sales aptitude, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Expect behavioral questions, role-specific scenarios, and discussions about how you handle challenges and meet targets.
You’ll also get an overview of the team structure, company culture, and growth opportunities.
This is a chance for candidates to ask questions and see if the role aligns with their career goals.
Orientation
Once hired, candidates attend a detailed orientation program. This typically lasts 2-3 days and is designed to familiarize new hires with company policies, procedures, and expectations.
Topics include sales training, product knowledge, customer interaction techniques, and the tools used for day-to-day operations.
Orientation also includes a walkthrough of the office environment, introductions to the team, and initial performance targets.
By the end of orientation, new hires are ready to start making calls and working towards their goals with support from trainers and team leaders.
