Interview
I first spoke with an internal recruiter who asked me about my past experience. This lasted about 30 minutes. Next, I had a "casual" interview with a Lead UI Designer and Sr. UX Designer that lasted 60 minutes. I spoke about some of my past work experience and learned more about the team, company, and role. Lastly, I had a portfolio share interview with the Design Director and another Lead UI Designer. All interviews went really well and they seemed to be very transparent the whole time which I really appreciated. Then it went completely sour... One week after my last interview I get a call from the internal recruiter saying they would like to hire me as a mid-level UI Designer due to my lack of consulting experience. I accepted this and informed the recruiter that I would be happy to take the job at this level at a higher range salary within the mid-level range. The call ended with him saying: 'Ok, leave it with me on negotiating to get you the best salary within this level. 1 week later I'm told they hired someone else and I did not get the job. What an absolute joke-around! I've never experienced anything like this before. I'm quite angry at the moment (as I just found out the news) but I'm also so grateful that I will not be working with an organization that treats someone like this. Also, one of the Lead Designers mentioned in the interview process that they were going through some internal growing pains due to Tigerspike changing to Catalyst so I'm also glad to not be coming into a business at such a turmoil phase. Silver linings! Even though I'm quite upset about how this went down I hope the best for the team as everyone I spoke with was very nice. They just did a VERY poor job communicating and setting expectations at the end of the process which made the whole experience feel like a total waste of time. Word of advice: Don't do what you did to me ever again! Have a bit more empathy.

Interview
Great interview. I went through 2 rounds of interview and all the interviewers were lovely to speak with, warm and friendly. The portfolio walkthrough was also enjoyable. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have to go through a design test which they usually have.
