Unprofessional, uncouth, unpolished interview process.
Interviewer came in with an attitude of a bully. For an experienced candidate like me, he demeaned my experience and slashed things written on my resume as I spoke about it. Shamelessly asked questions such as why I changed careers from being a developer to a BA. asked if development wasn't good enough for me. Was unnecessarily interested in what visa I had initially and what I had now.
Went on to ask me a series of definitions about FRD, BRD, Use case, User story, agile, which I answered. Gave me a business functionality and asked me to write the "Business rules" for it. I asked him if he (The business) had any pre-conditions or restrictions to the functionality. Insisted I (The BA) should "guess it". After I guessed some restrictions he says they are "wrong". Business rules come with the problem statement and are assumptions handed over to the BA in the beginning. Pathetic.
He then saw I had mentioned BABOK training on my resume. He asked me what that was. I said its the BA Book Of Knowledge, a set of standards for BAs. I wasn't certified but was aware of contents.
He goes on to ask me about UML saying "You might know it, its mentioned in the BABOK, you see," mocking me. To which I answer that in my line of work I have used Use Cases and User stories but haven't used UML. He then reveals his personal CBAP certification and BABOK knowledge and demeans me for NOT EVEN knowing such a small thing.
I mention that in most companies I had worked for, I followed templates for everything, and we didn't HAVE to know the definitions of anything. It was more about how effectively we got the information translated for the developers to understand.
I regret visiting this company for a supposedly "full-day-multiple-rounds" face to face interview without having a phone screening round. Had I known this on the phone screen, I wouldn't have wasted my day visiting them.
