      Manager Interview

      10 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at CommonBond (New York, NY)

      Interview

Despite the reviews indicating CommonBond's struggle with candidate experience (among other issues), I entered the interview process with an open mind back in August. On paper, at least, they seem to have a well-credentialed team. How bad could it be? It was very bad. I received false information when I asked why the role was open. (I had spoken already to the former employee.) My interviewers were unprofessional. The interviews were unstructured. No attempt was made to sell me on the role. And they didn't feign even a slight interest in speaking with me. (In that case, why bring me in?) One obvious issue was that they didn't know what profile they wanted for the role. They wanted to "figure it out" by wasting candidate time. I'm happy to have had volunteered my time to this cause. My advice to other candidates: carefully screen the company in your screening interview. It's a competitive market for talent right now, and your time may be better invested elsewhere.

      I interviewed at CommonBond

      Interview

Phone screen with hiring manager, interview with several people on the team, had to then present a project to the full team for about 30 min. Wasn’t too hard. All the interviews were very behavioral. The final round was a phone screen with the VP of People and CEO. I liked that the CEO was involved in the process.

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CommonBond (New York, NY) in Mar 2014

      Interview

It starts with your typical phone screening. After that is a one on one interview either over the phone or in person. If you make through that, there is a project where you are given a problem to solve that is related to your role and a real business issue for the company. You present that to either your future manager or a group of your future peers. I thought it was a great way to solve a real world problem, not just answer questions about my biggest fear.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They dug deeper into my skill set and past experiences than any company I've ever applied to. When you are a startup and every hire is critical, it makes sense that they are so thorough.
