I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at College Works Painting (Grand Rapids, MI) in Nov 2016
Interview
4-step process. You start off being interviewed in a group with others, which was kind of strange as people just talk over one another. You then have to reach out to past interns who did exceptionally well and ask them questions. Then call back to the original interviewer to a phone interview. After that you have a Skype interview and have to dress nice. Eventually a one-on-one interview with the president of the company. if he likes you, you're in.

I interviewed at College Works Painting (Kalamazoo, MI)
Interview
Starts with a phone screening, then Goes into an information session. Eventually you get to do a reverse interview and ask your questions as well as share information about yourself, from there are multiple formal interviews.
Straight forward and informative. You go through a couple of rounds of group interviews and then a phone call with the VP. Then an in-person interview at some location (Probably not now with covid).

Question 1
Mostly if you work hard and are willing to work for them?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at College Works Painting (Detroit, MI) in Dec 2021
Interview
3 rounds, one with district manager, one with President, and another I forgot. They like to hire people who played sports in high school and people who work hard. Ask if you have transportation and make sure you understand the internship is a painting business where you go D2D for leads.
