College Possible Program Coordinator interview questions

College Possible is a wonderful organization. They do amazing things and they are expanding rapidly. I applied for three different positions, for which I received interviews for. I had an initial phone screening, an in-person interview, 2 Skype interviews, and another phone interview (5 total!). You would think after five interviews that the HR team would keep you in the loop about your status. I waited a week after each interview, only hearing from HR after I bothered to email asking if I was still being considered. I received a cold, 2 sentence response saying they are going with another candidate. This happened 3 times. How can they not notify their candidates that they are not being selected?? Especially after 5 interviews??? This entire process took 8 weeks, and I am left with no job and no explanation. I have a feeling that they hired internally, as I assume many if their graduating AmeriCorps members are interested in these positions. But why interview someone 5 TIMES and not even give them the courtesy of a phone call (or email!). Terrible experience.
