I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Co-op (London, England) in Jan 2019
Interview
Missed a call following submission of C.V., returned call and left message 4 times. Then received emails stating they were unable to contact me after several calls, no missed calls on my phone - seriously! I subsequently sent an email to the recruitment department stating dates/times and contact names of those I'd spoken with and received a voicemail the following day once again saying they had been trying to contact me........
Eventually I spoke with a recruitment lady and arranged a telephone interview. The interview itself was relaxed and competency based. I was then informed that she would arrange a further interview with the Area Manager by the end of that week.
Absolutely no surprise to me that four weeks later no contact despite me calling numerous times, yet they are still advertising the role? The whole process places Co-op in an extremely negative light, if they can't master a simple recruitment process it is rather concerning how the rest of the business operates.
In summary, I have applied for many positions over the year and Co-op has my award for delivering an extremely poor unprofessional recruitment process. On a positive note, I feel relieved to have escaped the clutches of Co-op.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you delivered great customer service
The interviewer was friendly, we had a nice chat about milk and cookies. The nice thing about cookies with respect to milk is that their expiry date is much longer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Do you like milk?
Do you drink milk?
Are you going to drink milk?
Why wouldn't you drink milk in the future?
Well, that sounds like a very interesting interview, but I'm afraid you've left it for the wrong business. Our Co-op is based in the United Kingdom and has no affiliation with Co-operatives in the USA. You may wish to amend your review so your thoughts on your interview are shared with the correct organisation.
