      IT Technician Interview

      29 Oct 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ClickAway in Sept 2021

      Interview

One of the worst interview processes I've ever went through. 1st interview (CEO) - Basic questions, why do you want to work here, skills that can benefit. Only 10 minute interview and 50 minutes of the CEO saying how well he can run a business. 2nd interview - Basic questions and roleplaying of customer service and troubleshooting. The only interview that matters 3rd interview - Personality test with mostly yes/no questions; totally pointless and was a huge red flag for me but I needed a job. I received an offer and got above my asking but it was only for a few weeks. They would then lower it to minimum wage and give you "commission" to make around $20 an hour and $25 at best. Ironic because the CEO brags about helping the bottom line workers. Accepted and they want me to go through another interview with one of the store managers. 4th interview - Asked if a remote interview was possible and they said that doesn't work and "no, I have to meet you" with no real valid reason. Eventually made me drive 1 hour+ to get the same exact questions of the 3rd interview. My offer got rescinded with no explanation and no reply from the company. It was a blessing in disguise because I got better pay, commute, benefits, and career potential from a different company. Don't work here.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience and that this vetting process felt arduous; no employment process should feel like that and we will evaluate our process. So many applicants apply for this job only to leave less than a month later because they didn't grasp that this is a sales and customer service job before even touching a device to repair; and yet, it does require skills in all 3 areas. Many techs apply for this position thinking it as a stepping stone to either engineering or software development which we do not do here; so they leave having misunderstood the position. So I hope you understand that some employers, us included, do have a lengthy vetting process that though similar questions are asked, its also to feel out if the applicant is a good fit. A job offer during the vetting process is not uncommon and its to showcase what to expect in the job, to help the applicant see more clearly the position, and many applicants actually request a job offer before going through deeper vetting process. The wage you discuss is the minimum some of our techs on our pay plan make; we do have techs who are making far more per hour (upwards of $35-40/hr) which is based on productivity; this is something many applicants have a hard time grasping how it works because they have not worked on commission, fear the ebbs and flow, or have unrealistic wage expectations. As the whole of California is "at-will", it is common that applicant or employer withdraw/rescind the offer and though not receiving an explanation may seem hurtful, its usually an indication that simply it is not a good fit. We're sorry you felt so dismayed by the process you needed to write a negative review to express, but we are happy to hear you found a more suitable employment elsewhere. We wish you well and success.
