      Program Manager Interview

      21 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vancouver, WA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Clark College (Vancouver, WA) in Oct 2024

      Interview

The interview process was very positive, and I enjoyed the conversations with all the interviewers. However, things took a turn for the worse once they notified me that I was the final candidate. I was very excited about the position and ready to move and start, but HR only gave me two weeks to relocate, even though I still needed to resign from my current job and move across states. This felt very unprofessional and disrespectful. I applied for the position in early August and only went through one interview, with the entire process taking almost three months (for what seemed like an urgent hire). If they needed someone to start quickly, they should have informed me of the ideal start date as soon as they sent the conditional offer, rather than wasting up to two weeks in email communication about my final offer. Had I known the start date was non-negotiable, I would have prepared ahead of time and not missed this opportunity. Things got worse when they notified me that the start date was fixed and asked me to decide whether I would accept the offer. Just three hours later, they withdrew the offer without even consulting me. This experience has made me question whether I still want to work at this school, even though I really liked the position.
