I applied to a job posting that was listed in British Columbia. The recruiter reached out immediately, stressing that they urgently needed someone to join the team right away. I provided my availability and agreed to meet the very next day. However, when they sent the meeting invite, they failed to inform me that this wouldn't just be an initial recruiter screening, but rather a full interview with the team. Despite the lack of heads-up, the interview went well. True to their word, the recruiter followed up the next week to let me know they were moving forward with a former employee who was already familiar with their systems. I thought this was a fair and completely understandable decision. However, just a week later, I saw that they had reposted the exact same job on LinkedIn and their company page, but this time stating they were only looking for someone based in Montreal. While I understand that internal restructures and shifting priorities happen, this pivot was frustrating. It gives the distinct impression that they either didn't actually need someone as urgently as they initially claimed, or their internal planning is so disorganized that their team is likely suffering as a result of these sudden hiring shifts.
