I had a panel interview scheduled with three managers and a director, and I joined the call five minutes early. One of the interviewers joined first and mentioned she was feeling unwell and wouldn't be turning her camera on, while I was still expected to keep mine on throughout. She then asked me to start walking through my background before the rest of the panel had joined. For about ten minutes I was speaking with just this one interviewer, looking at my own video feed since hers was off. Eventually one additional manager joined, but the rest of the panel never appeared.
I found this disorganized, and it didn't match the structured panel format I'd been told to expect going in. Starting a formal interview without the full panel present, combined with the camera mismatch, made it harder for me to present myself well. As a result, I left out some relevant experience I'd meant to cover. If a panel can't convene as planned, or an interviewer isn't able to fully participate, I think rescheduling would be fairer to candidates than proceeding in a reduced, uneven format.
